12/3 Five Under $5k – FanDuel Value Plays

Since this is a 10 game slate with great top dollar players in great match-ups (i.e. Westbrook, Harden Cousins), we need to find some guys to round out our roster. Here are 5 players that are priced at $5,000 or less on FanDuel. (Below the giant picture of Jonathon Simmons.) Good luck in your contests tonight!

Point Guard

Ish Smith ($3,800) – There are a lot of viable mid-range point guards tonight but one name that could fly way under the radar in a 10-game slate is Ish Smith. At a price under $4k Smith is going to give us 20+ mins off the bench in what should be a blowout. Coupled with the fact that this is a big pace up spot, I like Ish for 7x upside at an ownership at less than 5%.

Shooting Guard

Wes Matthews ($5,000) – At this point in his career, we already know what we’re getting with Matthews. He’s a volume shooter that can occasionally fill the stat sheet. In a game against a Nets team that is ranked 22nd against the SG position, I think we could be looking at one of his random blowup spots.

Small Forward

Jonathan Simmons ($4,600) – By now, you should know that I’m a big fan of Jonhthon Simmons – and that was before he was moved into the starting lineup. In his first game in the starting unit, Simmons went for 23.1 FanDuel points. Not great. However, he played 34 minutes and scored 21 actual points. If he can rack up some peripheral stats in a pace-up game, I think we might be looking at 40 point upside on a cheap price tag.

Power Forward

Kelly Olynyk ($4,200) – With Hassan Whiteside out for tonight’s game against the Knicks, Olynyk (along with Bam Adebayo) should be in line for a nice bump in minutes and usage with the second unit. After putting up a dud last night and this being a 10-game slate, a lot of people will be quick to write Kelly O off. In the words of Lee Corso – “Not so fast!” In a game against a versatile player like Kristaps Porzingis, the Heat will need someone who can defend the paint and the perimeter. I am projecting a 25-30 point fantasy night in 21+ minutes of action.

Marcin Gortat ($4,900) – Gortat was a bust last night just like the rest of the Wizards team. Despite this, I am likely to be right back on him tonight against the Sixers. The match-up is extremely tough but he is the only player on this team capable of defending Joel Embiid. After only seeing 20 minutes of playing time last night, I am expecting a bump in minutes and fantasy points.
