12/13 One Player to Target at Each Position on FanDuel

It’s Wednesday night and we have a 9-game slate to get us through the middle of the week. With so many games on tonight’s slate, there are a ton of interesting options for us to choose from. Instead of giving a large breakdown of each game or various players, I am instead going to discuss my favorite plays at each position that you should start your build around.

Point Guard

Kyle Lowry TOR: $8,000 at PHX

Lowry is coming off a disappointing game against the Clippers, where he was held to 23.1 FanDuel points in 35 minutes. Prior to Monday night’s dud he was playing at an elite level, posting at least 38.6 FanDuel points in two straight games and nine of eleven overall. The Suns have been predictably bad against opposing point guards (26th in fantasy points allowed) and Lowry should have has way against the defense of Mike James and Tyler Ulis. He is going to be popular but this is a spot where a fade could be costly.

Shooting Guard

Jeremy Lamb CHA: $4,900 at HOU

Monday was officially Lamb chalk night (51.6% ownership) and he responded with a total bust, putting up 18 FanDuel points on 6 of 17 from the field. Batum should be out again with an elbow injury, which makes Lamb an interesting option yet again. People should be turned off by his recent game log but he faces a Houston’s defense that has given up the 8th most FanDuel points to SGs. Lamb had an elite 26.3% usage rate in Monday’s game against the Thunder and should be able to exceed 30 FanDuel points on Wednesday night.

UPDATE: Nicolas Batum is now probable for tonight’s game. I am going to replace Lamb with another target soon.

Small Forward

Paul George MIL: $7,600 at IND

After missing two games with an injury, George returned to the Thunder lineup on Monday night. This is a game that you will definitely need exposure to on tonight’s slate, as it features a 213.5 total and a close spread. Instead of paying for Westbrook or Oladipo, I’m inclined to save a bit and go after a few of the cheaper players in this game. The Pacers are ranked 26th in FanDuel points allowed to small forwards and George is a player that was priced at $9,000 a week and a half ago. This is a perfect time to buy low on a talented player who had a couple of bad games against elite Jazz and Spurs defenses.

Power Forward

Thaddeus Young IND: $6,300 vs OKC

On the other side of this game, Young makes sense as part of a nice mid-range stack with George. He has a great individual match-up against Carmelo Anthony (13th in DRMP – but mostly can be attributed to overall team defense) and should have a few extra opportunities on offense in a pace-up game. Young doesn’t have the highest ceiling but the power forward position is surprisingly thin for a nine game slate. His floor is in the mid 20s and he has the potential to reach 40 points if he sees 32-34 minutes and the game stays close.

Marc Gasol MEM: $8,100 at WAS

Gasol has had a string of underwhelming games over the past few weeks and I expect him to fly under the radar in tonight against the Wizards. Marcin Gortat has been known as an elite defender throughout his career but he is ranked 32nd out of 40 centers in defensive real plus minus (DRPM). This has equated to the Wizards alowing the 16th most FanDuel points to opposing centers. Gasol should have no problem scoring against a slow-footed defender like Gortat and this should be a spot where he scores 40 to 50 FanDuel points.
